Your Lordship's favourable consideration a letter from Mr.-

P. N. H. Jones, Assistant Director of Public Works in this

Colony, covering an application in duplicate for promotion

in the Colonial Service to the post of Head of a Public

Works Department.

Mr. Jones's record of service is

given at page 233 of the Hongkong Civil Service List for

1908. His appointment as Assistant Director of Public

Works dates from the 4th. April, 1903: and he has acted as

Director of Public Works and Member of the Executive and

Legislative Councils from the 30th. March, 1904, to the

28th. March, 1905.
